CEBU CITY — The Cebu City government and the Sinulog Foundation have begun preparations for Sinulog 2027, projecting up to 3 million devotees and tourists for the January festival honoring the Santo Niño de Cebu.

Organizers said 38 contingents from across the country have signified intent to join the grand parade competition, which will return to the South Road Properties grounds with an expanded grandstand capacity of 25,000.

The city’s disaster and police offices are drafting a unified security and crowd management plan, including designated evacuation routes, medical stations every 500 meters along the parade route, and a drone-assisted monitoring system.

Sinulog is first and foremost a religious feast. Every plan we make — from traffic to tourism — begins with keeping the devotion safe and solemn.

Hotel occupancy in Metro Cebu for the festival week is already at 64 percent, according to the local hotel and resort association, which advised visitors to book accredited accommodations early.

The fluvial procession and solemn foot procession, the festival’s religious highlights, are scheduled for the third weekend of January 2027.
